Southern Hospitality in a Waterfront Setting

Come discover the charm and beauty of this historic Inner Banks
community. With miles of Alternate Text pristine waterways and a history extending
back four centuries,
Perquimans is a favorite
getaway for those
searching for respite from
the hectic pace of the 21st
century.

Visitors are drawn to
Perquimans for its
virtually untouched natural
environment, four National
Register Historic Districts
,
and quaint shops, inns and
restaurants, and all that Perquimans offers. Contact or stop by the Visitor
Center
for information.

Historic Hertford, the county seat, features a downtown tailored for a
relaxing stroll. A walking tour map is available from the Visitor Center
with highlights of the National Register District. While in Hertford, stop by
the Perquimans Arts League Gallery, featuring a unique shop and
changing exhibits. Missing Mill Park is a beautiful waterfront park ideal for
picnicking. The Perquimans County Courthouse Green features a
monument to Hertfords favorite son, Baseball-Hall-of-Famer Jim Catfish
Hunter.

The Newbold-White House Historic Site tells the story of a Quaker family
in Colonial Carolina. During the 2004 season, visitors will have the
opportunity to tour the site during the current restoration and see the
behind-the-scene activities of the historic site. A Museum Shoppe offers
handmade crafts of regional artisans and local history books.

With over 100 miles of shoreline, pristine trails and woods, dozens
of peaceful creeks and rivers, Perquimans County is an outdoor lovers
paradise
. Winfall Landing Park and Hertfords Missing Mill Park offer river
boardwalks and overlooks.

Perquimans is home to the Sound Golf Links at Albemarle Plantation, a
Dan Maples-designed masterpiece on the shores of the Albemarle Sound.
For those looking for a bit more speed, car-racing fans wont want to miss
the weekend races at Northeastern Dragway. The 1/8-mile track features
races from March through November. Hunters will be interested in the
