Biking

Flat quiet roads offer bicyclists pastoral views of quaint countryside and fields of peanuts, corn soybean and cotton. Back roads, lightly traveled by cars, offer some very enjoyable pedaling. Many routes may not be marked on highway maps, so stop by the Town of Hertford Visitors Center (118 W. Market St.) to pick up a local map.

More information about biking in the region is available from the NC Department of Transportation's Division of Bicycle and Pedestrian Transportation (www.ncdot.org/transit/bicycle/) and the River City Cycling Club (www.rivercitycyclingclub.com)
