Albemarle Commission’s Economic Development District (EDD) http://www.albemarlecommission.org/ The Albemarle Commission was formed to assist local governments in the 10 county region to improve the opportunities within the Region, as well as to support local businesses through a regional Revolving Loan Fund. NC Rural Economic Development Center - Perquimans County

The NC Rural Center’s mission is to develop, promote, and implement sound economic strategies to improve the quality of life of rural North Carolinians. They serve the state’s 80 rural counties, with a special focus on individuals with low to moderate incomes and communities with limited resources.

 

STEP for Small Business

STEP for Small Business focuses the community economic development efforts of small towns on entrepreneurship and small business development through community coaching, technical assistance, leadership training, and capital formation.  The goal is to build the capacity of participating towns to proactively cultivate entrepreneurs and small businesses within their communities – seeding a locally-led loan fund is a critical final step in the process.  Funding for the program is provided through a USDA Rural Community Development Initiative grant. SBTDC (Small Business Technology Development Center)

Committed to helping make your business better, the team assists small & mid-size business make better, more informed decisions, access sources of capital and financing, evaluate and improve your financial performance, obtain quality business and market information, improve leadership skills and employee performance, plan for a better future.

SBC (Small Business Center at College of The Albemarle) https://www.albemarle.edu/programs-classes/noncredit/courses/small-business-center/ The SBC offers information and assistance to succeed with your small business, including help with marketing, sales, bookkeeping and management. SBC, a state-funded organization and part of the Small Business Center Network, offers free services including confidential one-on-one counseling to help you build a successful business, training and technical assistance with starting your business, business skills seminars, workshops and courses, resource and referral services — your one stop entrepreneur’s shop, a small business library.

SCORE (Service Corp of Retired Executives) http://score497.org/ SCORE is a nonprofit association dedicated to entrepreneur education and the formation, growth and success of small business nationwide. SCORE is a resource partner with the U.S. Small Business Administration.

SBA (U.S. Small Business Administration)  http://www.sba.gov/nc SBA provides a critical role in providing the 3C’s to businesses – capital, counseling, and contracts. SBA offers 7(a), 504 and specialized loan programs that are made through partnering lenders. The SBA partners with the Small Business and Technology Development Center (SBTDC), SCORE, and two SBA Women’s Business Centers to provide technical assistance to businesses in how to start, expand, and strengthen their companies.
