Perquimans County is tucked into the northeastern corner of North Carolina in the heart of the Albemarle. Nestled between the Little, Perquimans, and Yeopim Rivers, our county boasts 100 miles of shoreline just waiting for you to explore. Boating visitors to Perquimans have several docking options.
The docks at Hertford Bay can be accessed by boats that can clear the US17 - NC37 Twin Bridges (33-foot fixed vertical clearances).

Boaters bound for Hertford should use NOAA Chart 12205. The Perquimans River is well-marked, starting at the flashing 2P south of Reed Point. Head northwest into the river, where 8 to 11-foot depths can be expected. After the twin bridges are cleared (33-foot vertical clearance), there is a swing bridge that provides entry into the harbor at Hertford Bay. Boaters can access 48-hour complimentary dockage at 9 fixed-pier slips, free electric, pump-out service, and water.
We welcome your visit to Hertford Bay. At the historic Hertford town docks, you can dock your power or sail boat for a few hours or up to seven days while you visit and enjoy our town. Hertford Bay is within walking distance of many historical homes, and several restaurants and shops.
