The 1968 Bike Trail in Hertford was a project of American Legion Post 126 promoting bicycle safety for children. It was the first bike trail in North Carolina. The trail is ¾ mile in length and starts at the American Legion and going to Market Street; on to Front Street to Punch Alley; crossing Church Street to continue on Punch Alley by the river; on to Barrow´s Alley to Grubb Street; and back to the American Legion Building on West Academy. Bethel Loop

20.2 miles

The Bethel Loop Bike Route is a 20.2 mile trail.You start from Missing Mill park in downtown Hertford; Left on to Edenton Road Street; Left on Wynne Fork Road; Straight through flashing lights over US Hwy 17; Turn right on Pender Road (Opportunity for a break at the Bethel Store at the end of Pender Road); Leaving the store turn left onto Snug Harbor Road; Cross over US Hwy 17 to East Bear Swamp Road; Turn right on North Bear Swamp Road; Merge right with Center Hill Highway which will become Grubb Street; Continue on Grubb Street until you are back at Missing Mill Park.   • The Joppa Loop Bike Route is a 34 mile ride that takes you from Missing Mill Park in Hertford to Joppa and back. For more details from the River City Cycling Club click here.

The Hertford to Edenton Bike Route is a 45 mile ride that takes you from Missing Mill Park in Hertford on a loop to historic Edenton and back. For more details from the River City Cycling Club click here.
